Group Description
Come in from the cold. Everyone starts here. Freyja’s Cafe is the heart of Wychbourn Village, a warm table where neighbours become friends and newcomers quickly feel at home. Before there are guilds, workshops, circles, or commitments, there is simply coffee, conversation, and connection.
Whether you’re visiting for the first time or returning to see familiar faces, this is a place to pause, share stories, and discover what calls to you next. Long-time villagers gather here alongside curious newcomers, creating a welcoming mix of friendship, experience, and possibility.
Think of Freyja’s Cafe as both the front door and the living room of Wychbourn Village: a comfortable place to arrive, reconnect, and belong.
Pronounced FRAY-yah.

Can I start with a family memory? Years ago, one of my kids headed off to Britain while still under thirty, on what we cheerfully called their ‘Commonwealth passport’. It was really a working-holiday visa, with its own rules, rather than a pass to work anywhere in the Commonwealth.
They went for a couple of years with a backpack and more confidence than their parent had! The early calls were about finding a room and stretching the grocery money. Later, I heard about workmates, shared suppers and places that had stopped feeling foreign. They came home more independent, with friendships that outlasted the trip. A wonderful experience for them—and a lesson for me in letting go.
That’s what I think of when we talk about closer ties with Europe: the chance to get to know people through everyday life. What opportunities—or worries—would you see in making experiences like that easier for young Canadians and Europeans?
