← Go to Tau Wellness Cooperative
Effective October 18, 2026.
These terms explain what you can expect when using Tau Wellness Cooperative’s website, WychBourne Village, learning resources and activities, and what we ask of you in return. They also describe how permission for promotional photographs, recordings and stories about member activities works.
“Tau”, “we” and “our” mean Tau Wellness Cooperative, a cooperative incorporated in British Columbia. “You” means the person using our services. These terms cover our online community and the programs, workshops, rehearsals, performances and other activities we organize, unless a particular agreement states otherwise.
We make these conditions available before asking you to accept them when registering or buying a service. Browsing public information does not, by itself, give us a media release or permission to charge you. Keep a copy of the version you accept and any booking confirmation.
A program description or separate contract may add requirements for that activity. Specific arrangements agreed with you govern their subject matter; compulsory legal protections always take priority. Our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy explain information handling and website technologies. Neither replaces the separate consent described below.
Give accurate registration and payment information, keep your contact details current, and protect your password. Use your own account rather than sharing another person’s login. Let us know promptly if you believe someone has gained unauthorized access.
Village Characters and puppet identities can be imaginative; the person responsible for the account must remain identifiable to Tau. Do not impersonate someone else or claim qualifications you do not hold.
If you are under 19, contact us before opening an account or making a paid commitment. Participation depends on the program’s age requirements and an appropriate parent or guardian arrangement. An adult must make any agreement that requires adult contractual capacity. Permission for a young person’s publicity is addressed separately in section 11.
Choose the membership or activity that suits the involvement you want. Its published description and your confirmation identify the access, duration, cost and any participation requirements. A community account or program subscription does not by itself create legal co-op share ownership, voting rights, employment or authority to act for Tau. Formal cooperative membership is governed by the applicable admission process, rules and legislation.
Character assignments, troupe places and equipment use depend on availability and any responsibilities agreed for the role. Membership does not guarantee paid work, a touring engagement, funding, a particular character or a professional credential. Course access is distinct from completing assessments or receiving competency approval.
Company commitments will be discussed with those joining that troupe. Occasional community participation remains welcome where the gathering allows it; do not assume that attending an open workshop creates a continuing performance obligation.
Before you pay, the offer must identify what is included, the currency, total charges and applicable taxes, payment timing, and any expiry or renewal arrangement. Amounts shown in Canadian dollars are payable in that currency. You authorize only the payment arrangement disclosed and accepted for that purchase.
A fixed season or one-time booking does not become an automatically renewing subscription merely because you have an account. If we offer recurring billing, we will disclose its frequency, renewal terms, cancellation method and any legally required notices before you agree. We will provide the contract or confirmation within the period required for the transaction.
A purchase is subject to the advertised conditions and our confirmation. If a material error affects its price or availability, we will explain it and obtain your agreement to a correction or cancel and refund the affected purchase; we will not simply impose a higher charge. A fee paid to Tau is not a charitable donation unless the transaction expressly establishes a legally eligible charitable gift to the named recipient.
The booking or membership offer must state its cancellation, transfer, no-show and refund conditions before payment. Those conditions cannot remove a cancellation or repayment right provided by law. There is no blanket “no refunds” rule in these terms.
You can send a cancellation request to the contact below, identifying the purchase and the outcome you are requesting. Keep the message and your confirmation. Where account controls support cancellation, you may use them as well. Closing an online account and ending a paid arrangement are different steps; tell us about any active booking or subscription so it can be addressed.
For an automatically renewing service, we will honour the applicable notice, cancellation and refund rules, including any right to end a renewal without penalty. Where a refund is legally due, the governing calculation and deadline apply rather than a less favourable site policy.
If Tau cancels a paid activity, we will offer a refund of the affected fee or a transfer or credit you choose. We will also explain your options if a significant change to the date, venue or promised service means you cannot reasonably take part. Travel and other outside expenses are covered only when an agreement or applicable law makes us responsible.
Read the activity information, follow reasonable safety directions and venue rules, and use puppets, tools and shared equipment with care. Ask before borrowing or removing co-op property, and return it as agreed. Tell the organizer about damage, an incident or an accessibility adjustment you need to discuss.
Creative and community activities can involve movement, lifting, travel, outdoor conditions, tools or emotionally challenging discussion. Participate within your abilities, ask for help, and pause or stop if something feels unsafe. We will consider reasonable accommodation requests and explain relevant limitations before participation where possible.
Educational or wellness material is general information, not an individual diagnosis, treatment plan or substitute for qualified care. No particular health, learning or emotional outcome is promised. A separately arranged professional service must identify its provider, scope and applicable consent process.
This section acknowledges ordinary participation responsibilities. It does not release Tau from negligence or replace a clearly presented, activity-specific agreement where one is appropriate.
Help make the community welcoming and workable. Disagreement, satire and character play are welcome when they respect the people taking part. Do not use a fictional role to excuse harassment, discriminatory abuse, threats, sexual exploitation, bullying or deliberate disruption.
Ask before photographing, livestreaming or recording other participants. Permission given to Tau does not automatically authorize another member’s recording or social media post. Private messages and closed-group material must not be republished simply because you can access them.
You retain the rights you hold in your writing, photographs, artwork, scripts, performances and other contributions. Uploading something does not transfer ownership to Tau. Make sure you have the permissions needed from creators, performers and identifiable people included in it.
When you submit material to a community space, you give Tau a nonexclusive, royalty-free permission to store, reproduce, format and display it to that space’s intended audience, and to use necessary service providers for those tasks. This permission is limited to operating and maintaining the service you chose. Private submissions are not thereby licensed for public promotion.
We may make technical changes for accessibility, file compatibility or presentation without changing your meaning. A separate publication, production or commission agreement should address substantial editing, touring, commercial distribution, payment, credits and any additional creative rights. These terms do not impose a general waiver of moral rights.
You may request removal of a contribution you control. Some records may need to remain for a legal obligation, a dispute, proportionate security purposes or an agreed joint publication. We will explain a relevant restriction. Copies lawfully made by others or stored in backups may not disappear immediately; continued handling must still respect privacy law and the original purpose.
Tau and its licensors retain their rights in the website, curriculum, co-op branding and resources they provide. Your membership permits the personal learning and participation uses described with those materials. It does not authorize resale, public redistribution, removal of credits or use of our name as an endorsement.
Where a resource carries an open licence, that licence governs the permitted reuse and attribution. Otherwise, ask before adapting or publishing it beyond the activity. Respect copyright in music, scripts, images and other material brought into a performance.
Use the privacy settings available for the space you are joining and consider who can see what you post. Public pages may be indexed, copied or shared by visitors. A restricted group reduces its audience but cannot guarantee that another participant will never disclose something improperly.
Our Privacy Policy explains the purposes and arrangements for collecting, using, protecting and retaining personal information. You can contact us to request access or correction, discuss consent, or raise a privacy complaint. We may retain information where a lawful obligation requires it, even after an account closes.
We may send messages needed to administer an account, purchase, safety matter or requested service. Promotional email follows the consent and unsubscribe requirements that apply to it. Joining an activity does not give other members permission to add you to their mailing lists.
Tau may wish to document its workshops, puppetry, community gatherings and other member activities to explain and promote the co-op’s work. Identifiable photographs, voice recordings, video, performance excerpts and personal stories will be used for that purpose only with an appropriate permission or another applicable legal authority.
Accepting these general terms is not, by itself, agreement to promotional recording or publication. We will ask for a separate, informed choice for the intended use. You may decline optional publicity and still join ordinary community activities. Tell the organizer if you prefer not to be recorded so suitable arrangements can be discussed. Any production in which recording is an essential part of a specifically advertised role must explain that requirement before you accept that role.
The following permission applies only when you separately agree to it, and only within any limits recorded with that choice:
I authorize Tau Wellness Cooperative and people working on its behalf to photograph or record me during the activities identified in my consent, and to use the resulting images, sound, video, performance excerpts and activity descriptions to document and promote the cooperative’s programs and community work.
This may include Tau’s website, social media accounts, newsletters, printed publications, posters, presentations, publicity, fundraising and program reports. I understand that online publication can reach an audience worldwide. Tau may use service providers to prepare and distribute the material for these purposes, but this permission does not authorize an unrelated business to use me in its own advertising.
I permit reasonable cropping, captioning, shortening, sound adjustment and other presentation edits, provided they do not distort what I said or did, place me in a degrading or misleading context, or imply an endorsement I have not given. Use of my name will follow the naming preference I agree to; contact details and sensitive personal information require their own appropriate authorization.
Unless we make a different written arrangement, I do not require payment or approval of each individual use within this permission. I retain any copyright, performer’s rights and other interests I hold, apart from the limited licence needed for the authorized uses. Material owned by someone else requires that owner’s permission.
Where the law allows, I release Tau and its authorized representatives from claims based solely on the recording, editing and promotional use I have permitted. This release does not cover use outside that scope, unlawful disclosure, misleading portrayal, negligence, deliberate wrongdoing or a right that cannot legally be waived.
A choice to join one photograph or interview does not automatically authorize recording every later activity. Private support conversations, personal health details, testimonials and sensitive stories need a specific explanation and appropriate consent. Public attendance alone is not treated as agreement to become the subject of an advertisement.
You may withdraw or narrow permission by contacting Tau with enough detail to identify you and the material. After reasonable notice, we will stop new uses that rely on that consent and address material under our control as the law requires. Tell us about an urgent safety or privacy concern so we can consider immediate steps.
We cannot guarantee retrieval of printed copies already distributed or control every independent repost or search-engine copy. That practical limit does not authorize a new publication after consent ends or remove your legal remedies. Records retained for a lawful purpose will not be treated as a continuing licence for publicity.
For a participant under 19, we will obtain an appropriate parent or guardian permission and involve the young person in an understandable choice. We will respect an objection to being recorded and avoid publishing identifying details that create unnecessary risk. Adult terms do not purport to waive a child’s independent legal rights. A person who cannot give informed consent needs a suitable process with any legally authorized representative.
Members who arrange their own filming must obtain their own permissions and comply with the activity’s rules. A media release is not a transfer of ownership of a member’s creative work or a waiver of unrelated injury claims.
Payments, ticket reservations, email delivery, hosting and other features may involve outside providers. Their terms can apply to the part of the transaction they supply. We remain responsible for our own commitments and information handling; a provider’s involvement does not automatically remove that responsibility.
External links, member recommendations and partner notices are offered for convenience. Check the supplier, price, conditions and suitability before relying on them. We do not guarantee an independent person’s services or promise that every outside statement has been verified.
We may remove material, limit a feature or suspend access where there is a reasonable concern about safety, unlawful conduct, security, serious disruption or a breach of these conditions. Urgent situations may require action before notice. Otherwise, we will normally explain the concern and offer a reasonable opportunity to respond.
You can ask for a decision to be reviewed by contacting us with relevant information. Administrative action on an online account does not bypass any statutory or co-op rules governing formal membership rights. Refunds and existing obligations must be considered under the purchase terms and applicable law.
You may leave an activity or request account closure. Access may also end when a time-limited membership expires. Privacy duties, valid outstanding payment obligations, intellectual-property rights and provisions needed to resolve an existing dispute continue as appropriate; optional publicity remains subject to your recorded consent choice.
We aim to provide useful, dependable services, but websites and activities can be interrupted by maintenance, technical faults, weather, venue restrictions or events outside reasonable control. We cannot promise uninterrupted access, perfect security, unlimited storage or an identical feature set forever. We will take reasonable steps to address problems and communicate material changes affecting a paid commitment.
Each party remains responsible for its own conduct. Where the law permits, Tau is not responsible for indirect losses, speculative profit, or harm caused solely by an independent person or circumstances we could not reasonably control. We do not exclude liability for fraud, intentional misconduct, gross negligence, injury caused by our negligence, or any protection that legislation prevents us from limiting.
If your unlawful conduct or infringement causes a third-party claim against Tau, we may seek recovery of reasonable, proven loss for which you are legally responsible. This is not an automatic obligation to fund our defence, pay every allegation, or cover our own wrongdoing. Nothing here prevents a lawful consumer remedy or complaint to a regulator.
Please contact us first with what happened and the remedy you are seeking so we can try to resolve it fairly. You do not have to delay urgent relief, a regulatory complaint or a claim approaching a legal deadline while we discuss the issue.
British Columbia law and applicable Canadian federal law govern this agreement. A dispute may be brought before a court or tribunal with lawful jurisdiction; these terms do not impose mandatory private arbitration or require you to give up a non-waivable right to bring or join a proceeding. Privacy complaints may also be taken to the appropriate privacy commissioner.
When we revise the terms, we will identify the new version and provide the notice or renewed agreement required for an existing service. A change will not retrospectively expand a media permission, erase an accrued claim or introduce a new fee without the necessary agreement.
Changes to paid or renewing contracts must follow their agreed conditions and applicable consumer law. You retain any resulting cancellation rights. An urgent safety adjustment may take effect sooner where justified, but does not remove a refund or other remedy owed to you.
Questions, cancellation requests, privacy concerns and media-consent changes can be sent to info@tauwellness.com or by mail to Tau Wellness Cooperative, PO Box 694, Sooke, BC V9Z 1H6, Canada. Please identify the relevant account, booking or material without sending unnecessary sensitive information. Tell us if you need an accessible way to communicate.
These conditions and any specific agreement for your purchase describe the arrangement for the services concerned. They do not override the cooperative’s governing rules, an employment or contractor agreement, or compulsory law. If one provision cannot be enforced, the remaining provisions continue where they can fairly operate on their own. Not enforcing a condition on one occasion does not give up the ability to address it later.
You may not transfer an account or paid place without any required approval. A lawful organizational transfer must respect existing commitments and privacy obligations. No person acquires authority to bind Tau simply by participating, and no unrelated organization becomes a party merely because we collaborate with it.
