Fraud targeting seniors is at an all-time high, especially during tax and holiday seasons. Isolation, trust in authority, and unfamiliarity with digital threats make elders particularly vulnerable. This coming tax season, the Betwix’d troupe returns with interactive puppet shows that blend humor, storytelling, and practical tips—empowering seniors to spot scams and stay safe, together.

Community, Connection, and Resilience

The Betwix’d Improv Puppet Program is more than entertainment—it’s a community movement. Anchored by gender/neuro-diverse, and Indigenous elders, each performance is a celebration of diversity and the wisdom of seniors helping seniors. Shows are delivered in trusted spaces—senior centres, libraries, and community halls—where elders feel safe to share, learn, and connect.

Each show features real-world scam scenarios, role-play, and audience participation. Seniors recall warning signs, share their own stories, and receive fraud prevention kits packed with tip sheets and reporting tools. Trauma-mitigation practices—like grounding exercises and peer support circles—are woven into every session, ensuring emotional safety and resilience.

Partnerships with law enforcement and health organizations add credibility and local relevance. The program’s sustainability is powered by Community Wellness Worker interns, who provide non-chemical palliative care and wellness support, bridging Western and Indigenous healing traditions.

At each Betwix’d show, Community Wellness Workers invite you to try a Reiki Reviver—a rapid, restorative wellness session guided by three practitioners. Before and after the performance, you can choose from eight unique Reiki Flows, each designed to meet a different need: from boosting vitality, easing pain, and lifting spirits, to finding restful sleep or healing the past. Settle into a relaxing chair, select the flow that resonates with you, and let the coordinated touch and soothing voices of the CWW team help you reset, replenish, and restore your energy—right there at the event.
