Community Wellness Worker Training
Make room for the conversations, creativity and human connection at the heart of care. Whether you are in your second year of healthcare study or already working in any healthcare occupation or profession, you can deepen your palliative care skills alongside people bringing different experience.
We welcome students and experienced practitioners equally. Nurses, whether studying or already practising, are especially welcome.
Through 18 courses, you will study counselling, hypnotherapy and Reiki, then practise with others and take part in community activities. Self-directed study lets you work through the material alongside your other commitments, with guided practice and opportunities to learn together.
Counselling through the arts
Our Counseling Hypnotherapy Certification through the International Medical and Dental Hypnotherapy Association (IMDHA) is an arts-based counselling certificate. Creative work belongs in the training: telling a story, listening to another performer and trying a different perspective give you ways to practise working with people.
Completing at least the Community Puppeteer program fulfils the amount of arts-centred work required for this certification. It sits alongside your counselling and hypnotherapy studies and the other certification requirements.
You do not need to arrive as a performer. You will have a troupe to learn with, and chances to put your developing skills to use in WychBourne Village.
The art of Japanese Reiki
ChrŸs Tei practises and teaches the art of Japanese Reiki, honouring ChrŸs’s own teachers, Western Reiki Shihan Rebecca Hay and Japanese Shihan Mari Okazaki. Students typically include second- and third-level practitioners as well as people just starting their Reiki path. Together, you explore rapport through NLP and ways to guide relaxation and trance. ChrŸs offers Reiju at our monthly gatherings.
All students completing the training earn certification in Tau Touch Trance Technique (Triple T), ChrŸs’s unique integration of traditional Tenohira (palm healing) and hypnosis, practised in the Hayashi clinic tradition with three practitioners attending each recipient.

Term 1: Begin with touch, talk and trance
Introduction to Touch
Begin with touch-based care and Reiki, with attention to consent, boundaries and the experience of the person receiving care.
Introduction to Counseling
Practise listening, building trust and responding with care.
Introduction to Hypnosis
Study trance, basic inductions and the ethical use of suggestion.
Term 2: Develop your practice
Sora — Distance Reiki
Explore distance Reiki within the program’s Reiki tradition.
Change Processes in Counseling
Study how people approach change and how to support them through it.
Group & Deep Trance Hypnosis
Learn about self-hypnosis, group sessions and deeper trance work.
Term 3: Build rapport
Rapport in Reiki
Bring attention to grounding, boundaries and the practitioner-client relationship.
Communications in Counseling
Practise the communication skills that help people feel heard and understood.
Hypnotherapy
Bring hypnosis techniques into a structured therapeutic session.
Term 4: Work with difficult experiences
Mizu — Psychological Reiki
Explore emotional awareness within Reiki practice.
Trauma Mitigation Counseling
Study approaches to grief, distress and trauma, with attention to safety and boundaries.
Trauma, Phobias & Fear Hypnosis
Study how these concerns are approached in hypnotherapy and the care this work requires.
Term 5: Explore growth and meaning
Kaze — Trance in Reiki
Explore the relationship between Reiki practice and trance.
Personal Growth Counseling
Work with values, identity and life transitions.
Wisdom & Ancestors Hypnosis
Explore imagery, personal meaning and ancestral themes in hypnosis.
Term 6: Prepare for professional practice
Kasai — Optimizing Reiki
Refine and integrate your Reiki practice.
Professionalism in Counseling
Study ethics, documentation, cultural responsiveness, boundaries and referral.
Surgical, Dental & Birthing Hypnosis
Study hypnosis applications in these settings and the importance of working within your role.
