The Power of Touch

Humans, like many species, have the innate ability to comfort those who are suffering through their touch.

Some people seem to have a natural talent for this, but everyone can improve their ability to relieve suffering through the training we provide.

My mission is to make this training available to those who need it the most.

Here is how it started. At a cultural humility workshop in 2018, I experienced cedar brushing, an Indigenous wellness practice. Words can't fully describe it; you need to try it yourself. Most of us instantly feel better, something that lasts the full day following if not longer. It seems so simple, but I have seen time and time again, such a moment of simply feeling okay is enough for people to release the burdens of their lives and see a better way forward. Sometimes, their experience of change can be profound.

There are number of modern theories on how this all works. What remains important to me and likely to you, is that it does work.

After years of study, I refined and approach that blends traditional healing touch practices with a practical understanding of what science has shown us in the past 50 years about our amazing bodies, especially our mind/body connection. This approach required me to train in Hypnotherapy, Reiki and Counseling to design a short duration, highly effective, therapeutic technique to make the most people possible feel significantly better than they did before the technique was applied.
My design strategy includes:

  • the knowledge all of us have the opportunity to learn,
  • practices that are open to all,
  • a connection to each person's own ancestral healing wisdom

This in turn led me to the art and practice of Reiki, a healing touch technique gifted to all people by the founder of Reiki, Mikao Usui. I am fortunate that my Western and Japanese Reiki teachers (Shihans) taught very traditional Reiki. Traditional Reiki is taught as a hands-on practical technique that supports healing in others and personal development for the practitioner. The next task was to develop a Reiki technique that is both short in duration and powerful in effect. A task best accomplished by incorporating the power of the natural trance that arises in all therapeutic relationships.

15 Wisdom and Ancestors Hypnosis

30 Hypnotherapists Walk into a bar...

A quick jargon check due to the fact 30 hypnotherapists will give you 30 definitions of what we do.

For me and my students, trance is a natural condition everyone experiences, hypnosis is a set of principle-based skills to manage trance, and when we do that for the benefit of others, it is hypnotherapy.

Our school is certified by the International Medical and Dental Hypnotherapist Association, and our students who complete the full training become certified hypnotherapists.

Learn the best parts of Elman and Erickson hypnosis techniques

In the 1960's, before the world of big pharma and a pill for everything, front line medical practitioners had to learn and maintain a wider palette of palliative skills. Many incorporated hypnosis into that mix. The premier medical hypnosis trainer of the day was Dave Elman.

Dave Elman taught on the premise that the 'doctor' only had a little time for each person, so his training was primarily based on rapid induction techniques to create somnambulistic trance. Pain management was effectively treated this way.

As the healthcare system became centered on drug-based palliative care, these skills became less important to doctors and nurses and the art was lost.

Meanwhile, their children became fascinated with inner exploration, and as the 60's became the 70's, Hypnosis found a new nexus, one that developed a different part of this amazing skill and art of using the power of suggestion.

Milton Erickson and beyond

Milton H. Erickson shifted the foundations of

western culture's practices of counseling and psychology.
His influence over those who worked with him was transforming for them and in turn they created the foundation of everything we call "body language stuff" today.

FF Quick Picks

Kalman Lipstick

The new line of Kalman lipsticks are very exciting. Intense colors and a very long lasting effect. For the price, you get a lot of lipstick. The design of the lipstick looks cheap, though.

Eamonn Jeans

Eamonn have released a new line of jeans called Eamonn No. 5. If you have the right figure, you're in for a treat. The tight fit looks great, and they are very comfortable to wear. Although pricy, you won't get a much better pair of jeans.

Luxury ties from Italian makers, Aaqil. These ties are the best looking ties we have seen in a long time. Expensive, yes.. a problem, NO.

Nuna Streetwear

Kids streetwear from Nuna means color and craziness. Soft materials and wild patterns are the building block of Nuna. Durable, expensive and wild. Can't really beat that.
